22 original compositions for solo classical or fingerstyle guitar. All titles composed by Roger Hudson between the years 1988-1999. This collection represents the earliest efforts to put my musical ideas for solo guitar on the written page. Many of the pieces in this collection are in older popular styles (blues, rags, etc.). Some pieces in this book are definitely heavier than others. It certainly is not a collection of easy pieces. I have always composed what I enjoy composing and have never given too much thought to difficulty or whether or not a piece is deemed "concert-worthy". My compositional pendulum freely swings from the simple to traditional to more esoteric without much concern. Whether at casual or formal performances, many of my original pieces were, and still are, regularly intermingled with standard repertoire. As far as categorization, I will leave it up to those who sense the duty to determine what could be considered "classical" as opposed to "fingerstyle". In 1994, About half of the pieces featured here were included in my first album release called Guitarchitecture. In The Guitar Foundation of America's journal Soundboard, classical/microtonal guitarist John Schneider reviewed the CD and spoke of "many gorgeous moments". So, at least in that case, the academic leaning classical guitar world seemed to like my music. Experience has shown that my compositions are also liked by a cadre of fingerstyle guitarists. Because of this I am offering separate versions of this collection in tablature as well as standard notation - in an attempt to please everyone!

The author passionately believes that everyone can improve as a writer, a conviction earned through twenty years of empowering young writers. This handy guidebook distills ideas that have worked well over the years to help both college and high school students develop their writing abilities. It explains in an accessible way the keys to writing well, providing valuable insight into the fundamentals of the writing process and seventy incisive pieces of advice. Pitched in a breezy adolescent-friendly voice, it is an inexpensive supplement that can help make even disaffected students responsive to coaching so they become gritty writers willing to revise and clarify their prose. A student reading this guidebook will be encouraged by realizing that writing is not a magical gift some people have and others don't, but a skill she or he can develop. The book can help teachers, schools and school districts foster writing across the curriculum as promoted by the Common Core standards. Likewise, it can help colleges and universities promote and reinforce a shared understanding among students and faculty that writing is thinking and that the heart of the writing process is revision.

The Roger Hudson Guitar Method is a progressive, dynamic guide to the fundamentals of music and the basics of classical and fingerstyle guitar playing. Each lesson offers attractive exercises and new compositions from the author as well as traditional sources. Areas of emphasis are rhythmic training, note reading, key and time signatures, scales, chords, arpeggios, basic right and left hand techniques, position shifting and repertoire. The method includes numerous solos and duets in classical, blues, jazz, folk and world music genres. The Roger Hudson Guitar Method is a product of over ten years of development seasoned by successful practical use with students in both individual and class instruction. Subjective in-depth technical discussion such as - nail shape, rest/free stroke, sitting position, etc. - was intentionally left out in favor of playable musical material. The method is designed to allow flexibility for instructors with varying perspectives and pedagogical styles.
