Science teaches evolution. Genesis describes creation. Christianity, Judaism, and Sufism teach resurrection. Hinduism, Buddhism, and Sikhism teach reincarnation. The Reluctant Messenger of Science and Religion resolves these paradoxes. Chester and Lydia meet in a debate. One wins. One loses. Neither are ever the same. Lydia discovers a secret from her past that destroyed her family. She tries to ignore it, but her nightmares won't let her. Christian-Jewish relations have had changing fortunes throughout the centuries. Occasionally there has been peace and even mutual understanding, but usually these relations have been ones of tension, often involving recrimination and even violence. This volume addresses a number of the major questions that have been at the heart and the periphery of these tenuous relations through the years. The volume begins with a number of papers discussing relations as Christianity emerged from and defined itself in terms of Judaism. Other papers trace the relations through the intervening years. And a number of papers confront issues that have been at the heart of the troubled twentieth century. In all, these papers address a sensitive yet vital set of issues from a variety of approaches and perspectives, becoming in their own way a part of the ongoing dialogue.

Black Holes. Dark Energy. Dark Matter. Entanglement Theory. Quantum Physics. Modern science estimates dark energy permeates roughly 68% of the universe. Dark matter makes up another 27%, leaving the "normal" matter visible to humans at less than 5% of the cosmos around us. String Theory and Membrane Theory both suggest that parallel dimensions very probably exist. Quantum Entanglement Theory shows two objects connected despite being large distances apart. What does the universe hold—and hide? Where do we come from and where are we headed? Can science explain psychic and supernatural phenomena? Exploring the collision of science, the universe and the "supernatural" unknown, Supernatural Gods: Spiritual Mysteries, Psychic Experiences, and Scientific Truths by Jim Willis looks at the myths, stories, history, science and facts of healing energies, psychic connections, heavenly messengers, miracles, déjà vu, dreams, out-of-body experiences, and many other psychic phenomena beyond the limits of the five senses. Surveying scientists and experts, it probes the physical existence of "gods" from other dimensions and realities. The past, present and future are investigated to glimpse at the truth of animal envoys, earth spirits, evolution, parallel universes, religious stories, mythological shape shifting superheroes, the origins of the agricultural revolution, alien visitors, dowsing, past life regression, channeling, intuition, meditation, shamanism, spiritualism, and much, much more. Also included are a helpful bibliography and an extensive index, adding to the book’s usefulness.

We must clearly distinguish between reality (the territory), and what we perceive to be reality (the map of the territory)! In our journey through life, we need something to guide us, to give us reassurance that we are on the right track. Modern science has done its best to take that reassurance away from us, telling us that there is no destination, no purpose, in life, and that in effect our lives are an accident of 'Nature'. Religion, too, has become equally unhelpful: it has become dogmatic, sectarian, and self-serving. We have lost the core, the real message, of religion, but we still need true spirituality. Indeed, we need a map to the Truth.

Many people today are struggling; some are discouraged, and others worry about what the future holds. When the joys in life seem distant, inspiration will help us become renewed. In Opening the Windows Within, author David W. Stanfield explores important aspects in our lives to help us move past our obstacles and difficulties to improve the chances of experiencing a more rewarding and harmonious life. With the emphasis directed toward self-improvement and enhancement, Opening the Windows Within offers glimpses into ourselves by examining characteristics of our being, including consciousness, emotion, and spirituality, and it helps us realign our sense of values and perspective. Stanfield conveys the idea that we need something more to sustain the passion in our lives—beyond the labor of our careers and the toil of daily responsibilities. He encourages us to pursue our interests, ambitions, and dreams because they often provide the enrichment we seek in life. Opening the Windows Within shows that when we elevate the emotional, spiritual, and intellectual aspects of our nature to a heightened level of maturity, we are better prepared to face any challenge that comes our way.

Although much has been written about the vigorous debates over science and religion in the Victorian era, little attention has been paid to their continuing importance in early twentieth-century Britain. Reconciling Science and Religion provides a comprehensive survey of the interplay between British science and religion from the late nineteenth century to World War II. Peter J. Bowler argues that unlike the United States, where a strong fundamentalist opposition to evolutionism developed in the 1920s (most famously expressed in the Scopes "monkey trial" of 1925), in Britain there was a concerted effort to reconcile science and religion. Intellectually conservative scientists championed the reconciliation and were supported by liberal theologians in the Free Churches and the Church of England, especially the Anglican "Modernists." Popular writers such as Julian Huxley and George Bernard Shaw sought to create a non-Christian religion similar in some respects to the Modernist position. Younger scientists and secularists—including Rationalists such as H. G. Wells and the Marxists—tended to oppose these efforts, as did conservative Christians, who saw the liberal position as a betrayal of the true spirit of their religion. With the increased social tensions of the 1930s, as the churches moved toward a neo-orthodoxy unfriendly to natural theology and biologists adopted the "Modern Synthesis" of genetics and evolutionary theory, the proposed reconciliation fell apart. Because the tensions between science and religion—and efforts at reconciling the two—are still very much with us today, Bowler's book will be important for everyone interested in these issues.

This Volume Three of a three volume set covers books not included in the New Testament. These books include the writings of the Apostolic Fathers, who were Church leaders and writers of the late first to mid-second centuries, along with "apocryphal" books, both orthodox and Gnostic. Among these apocryphal books are some that have received much publicity of late and from which many people derive their ideas of early Christian history.

Cyber Worship in Multifaith Perspectives, as is implied by its name, explores worship (i.e., Prayer, Praise, Scripture, Sacrament, Rituals, Confessions, Eucharist, Rites, Pilgrimages, Reflection, Contemplation, etc.) on the Internet. It is not an "everything you need to know" guide about the subjects of faith and belief, religions-online, religions on the Net, or religions in cyberspace. Rather, it is a book about religious and spiritual experience under the rubric, cyber worship, which is the variety of ways religious devotion is performed and carried out on the Internet. The term 'Cyber Worship' is a catchall phrase, which includes variants such as online worship, virtual worship, electronic prayer, cyber puja, cyber synagogue, and so on. Dr. Mohamed Taher has thus assembled a quick reference for two groups: those communities that are involved in Cyber Worship and business Webs that collaborate in sustaining wired environments. As such, this book provides an interesting and current perspective on a practice that will continue to grow in the future.

In retrospect, stories learned as children were entertaining but failed as life mentors. We, as well as our children, have failed to retain their principles and in consequence have lost a portion of background history necessary to understanding God's messages. For instance, why did God give the Law of Moses? Of what purpose were the kings and judges, the flood of Noah's time? What do the Covenants mean, and why didn't first-century Jews accept the promised Messiah? Why is Revelation a part of His message, since it is in apocalyptic language, and does it have any meaning for us? These questions are important, as they grant knowledge that provides additional sources of honor from which we are able to praise Him more effectively. They are also the background for the New Covenant under which we live. Without them, we would not have reconciliation or salvation.

The Owner's Manual for Your Life! Founded in the twentieth century by the late spiritual teacher Ra Uru Hu, Human Design is often called the "new Astrology," and the "intersection of science and spirituality." Your Human Design chart is formulated by taking your birth date, time, and location and extrapolating specific personality traits and life paths from this convergence. A Human Design chart offers an astonishingly accurate guide to your personality, as well as direction and counsel on how each individual can deal with challenges in their life. Previously, Human Design charts have been notoriously difficult to interpret and decipher, usually taking a dedicated expert to read and translate them into plain English. At least, that used to be the case--until now. In Understanding Human Design: The Science of Discovering Who You Really Are, author Karen Curry walks you through the sometimes complex and intimidating Human Design chart with simple, direct language. You will learn about each level of Human Design, from the most basic elements of the chart to the deeper, more nuanced insights Human Design offers, all in an approachable and interesting way. Understand how every line, intersection, and symbol correlates to a personality trait that can directly affect your life with an experienced guide by your side. Your personal Human Design Chart can reveal your strengths, your weaknesses, and perhaps most importantly, your potential. Prepare for repetitive difficulties that you might encounter throughout your life, and embrace the opportunity to grow as you understand your personal Human Design strategy. With author Karen Curry's assistance and knowledge, you have a path to overcome these difficulties simply by following the directions set out in your Human Design chart, the "owner's manual" to your life.
